How to Use This Theme
• Calling. As graduates enter into adulthood, they are forced to make a decision, to either serve
mannon and the gods of this world or serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)
• Discipleship. Graduation is a rite of passage to adulthood. The challenge for believers is to make their passage, too—to act as a spiritual grownup. (1 Cor 13:9-12)
• Holy Spirit. Unlike the usual commencement speeches, which focus on dreams and human potential, Jesus’ “graduation” speech to his disciples in John focuses on their need to depend on the Holy Spirit for any measure of success. (John 15)
• Journey. Graduation marks the beginning of an journey into adulthood. As Christians, graduates are not on this journey alone, but are accompanied by a “cloud of witnesses.” (Heb 12:1-2)
